General information on Keto-Tapasi Progress Association

  • Reason for supporting Fairtrade: Keto Tapasi has overcome many cultural and territory obstacles to become Fairtrade certified, such as adjusting a patriarchal social organisation to a more open and democratic one, breaking language barriers between tribes, and agreeing on common production quality standards. And they did it because Keto Tapasi believes that only through what they do best, producing quality coffee, will they remain united as a society and a culture.
  • Farm Members: 377
  • Business progress: Before the Association was formed local farmers used to sell their coffee produce to a variety of traders, having to walk several kilometres to the nearest sales point. Keto Tepasi’s members are now selling mainly through their Association, enabling it to gain strength as a business as well as improving social cohesion between clans and tribes.
